What Is Mardi Gras?

Mardi Gras: Celebrating with Music, Dance, Food, and Family Fun!

Mardi Gras, also known as Carnival or Carnaval, has been celebrated worldwide for centuries as a pre-Lenten feast before the fast. The most renowned celebrations take place in New Orleans, Brazil, and Italy. King Cake Parties, Masked Balls, Parades, Beads, Costumes, Foods, and Drinks- all taking on each location's unique traditions and specialties. But all these events bring people together, showcasing their artistic celebrations through music, dance, food, drink, and family fun.

SacTown Mardi Gras aims to unite all cultures in the region to create and celebrate the Mardi Gras/Carnaval season, highlighting their traditions through parades and parties. Not only does it bring the community together, but it also positively impacts the economy by directing funds to local businesses.

The SacTown Mardi Gras/Carnaval Season 2024 will commence from January 6, 2024, to Presidents Weekend on February 17th and 18th. The mission is to establish an annual celebration that will become a destination event for all.
